Application

Especially developed for waterproof sealing of seams in teak decks and other decking materials.
Deck Caulk has good elastic properties and has excellent resistance to UV rays and moisture.

Manuals

1. During caulking, make sure that the deck is protected from direct sunlight and rain. The temperature should be between 5ºC and 35ºC and the relative humidity between 40% and 75%.
2. Use KENT Acrysol or Soft Surface Cleaner to clean the teak, ensure surfaces are dry before proceeding. Do not use compressed air, unless equipped with an oil separator, as teak easily absorbs oil. Instead use a vacuum cleaner.
3. Apply a bond breaker tape at the bottom of the seam to avoid three-side adhesion.
4. Cut the nozzle to fit the width of the seam
5. To prevent air from entering the seam, place the tip of the nozzle at the bottom of the seam and hold the gun at an angle of 60º to 80º.
6. Pull the nozzle at a constant speed through the seam and apply KENT Deck Caulk with about 10% to 20% surplus.
7. Immediately after application of KENT Deck Caulk, and before skinning of the product occurs, the adhesive must be pressed into the seam with a spatula.
8. Any excess should then be removed in order to simplify the sanding process.
9. If the sealant is not smoothed by spatula immediately after the application, it is recommended to cut the excess of hardened product with a blade before sanding.
10. Optimum conditions for sanding are generally achieved after 7 days (depending on temperature and relative humidity). Sanding should be made length wise to the joints using a band or lapping machine, with P80 grit and P120 grit to finish.
11. For cleaning the deck, it is recommended only to use liquid soaps, diluted with water or seawater, rinsed thoroughly afterwards. Avoid aggressive cleaners, bleaches, caustic soda, whiteners and use of cleaning by machine or with hard brushes.
