Application
DS Sponges are double-sided (DS) sanding sponges with aluminium oxide and silicon carbide on both sides and a highly flexible foam backing. They are ideal for manual sanding as the thick foam structure absorbs hand pressure and prevents the marks and deep scratches left by plain abrasives with denser backings.
They can be used where machine sanding is not possible and are easy to use on profiled surfaces without the risk of peeling edges, giving an excellent surface finish.
DS Sponges are available in three grit sizes:
- DS Sponge FINE — BROWN
Aluminum oxide, silicon carbide P320/500*
Recommended for sanding electrophoresis and old lacquer layers, refinish sanding before primer filler spraying - DS Sponge SUPERFINE — GREEN
Aluminium oxide, silicon carbide P600/1000*
Recommended for sanding electrophoresis and old lacquer layers, filler sanding before basecoat spraying - DS Sponge MICROFINE — PURPLE
Aluminium oxide, silicon carbide P1000/1500*
Recommended for preparation of lacquered surfaces, clear coat fading
*P grit values are approximate and provide a general guideline for the coarseness or fineness of abrasive particles on sanding paper, as defined by the Federation of European Producers of Abrasives (FEPA).
The final refinish result will always depend on the pressure applied.
DS Sponges are also available as a set of 10 sponges of each grit (30 sponges in total).
