Application
It is a specially developed non-adhesive foam extrusion, with a figure-of-eight profile, for the masking of gaps between panels. The product will self-locate into panel gaps and prevent paint build up on the panel edges or ingress past the panel gap. After masking the surrounding area’s as normal, the correct length of Primer Shield strip is cut from the pack the smaller profile is pushed into the gap to form an interference fit and then the strip is fingertip adjusted to give the correct protection. Only a quick check is required to ensure the strip is located firmly in all the gaps and that panel edges sit in the groove of the product. The product allows very fast masking of A post, B post, C post, bonnet, boot, petrol cap, sunroof and lights to body gaps. Finally, the Primer Shield can be removed after flash cure of the primer by simply pulling the strip out of the gap.The comparison between traditional methods of masking and the new Primer Shield product indicate significant savings in time, making the Bodyshop more efficient and more profitable.
