Application
These drills are suitable for alloyed and unalloyed steel with a tensile strength up to 1000 N/mm², stainless steel V2A and V4A, high alloyed steel, cementation steel.
Standard drills have a centre section that does not actually cut, resulting in increased effort and time. The Split Point design cuts to the centre, reducing wear on the cutting edge and saving time and effort.
Its cutting edge reduces swarf build by breaking the swarf into small pieces (rather than long pieces), making them easy to remove and avoiding the dangerous build-up of chips common with conventional drills. This also results in a better finish.
Re-grinding a drill can be a time consuming process and a skill less common in today’s workshops. The cobalt alloy will last up to 10x longer than a standard HSS drill when used correctly.
